Switching
The building blocks of the network, D-link has an extensive range of Ethernet switches to suit everyone from the smallest of start-ups to large enterprise customers. Small businesses can choose from a range of basic 5-10 port switches, while at the high end stackable products can cope with up to 336 ports altogether, with plenty of options in between.
They all support Ethernet or Gigabit ports. Additionally high end switches support 10Gigabit interfaces for uplinks to shared servers and fast switching backplanes. Fibre as well as UTP copper cabling is supported on many and, on some models, Power Over Ethernet (PoE) to deliver power over the LAN to wireless access points and other devices.
All switches support basic Layer 2 switching out of the box with additional Layer 3 traffic shaping and management capabilities available in a comprehensive range of managed products, including the enterprise-grade xStack. Then, between the two, come D-Link Smart Switches delivering a subset of layer 3 features tailored to the needs of smaller businesses, and managed via an intuitive Web interface.
